Are you feeling angry, overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted? Maybe you’re snapping more than you want to, shutting down, overthinking, or carrying stress that never seems to let up. If your nervous system has been in survival mode for a long time, your reactions make sense and therapy can help.
Stuck in your career? I help professionals and leaders manage stress, navigate stressful work environments, and find balance between work and personal life. I offer a calm, supportive space where you slow down, explore new ways to communicate, connect, and live a life that feels aligned with your values and goals.
You might be coming to therapy because… Your anger feels bigger than the situation (you’re snapping at the people you love) You feel burnt out, overstimulated, or constantly “bracing” You’re stuck in cycles of overthinking, people-pleasing, conflict, or shutdown You feel overwhelmed by workplace stress, family dynamics, or relationships.
Whether you’re seeking relief from anger, healing from past experiences, or support in navigating difficult relationships, my work is centered on creating a safe, non-judgmental space where your experiences are heard, your strengths are recognized, and your growth is supported. You don’t have to do this alone. Reach out, schedule a consult or book a session.
Hello, I am Cynthia and I hold a Master of Counselling Psychology from Memorial University. I am currently a Canadian Certified Counsellor, and an Alberta Counselling Therapist who is excited to have the opportunity to work collaboratively with you in a non-judgmental learning environment where we will explore your goals and uncover your resources, skills, and passion.
I have extensive experience working with individuals who are struggling with social emotional communication, anxiety, anger, stress, and low self-esteem. I have particular interest in empowering people in finding their life’s purpose, developing a better work/life balance; maintaining healthy relationships; navigating life transitions; family changes/dynamics including separation/divorce and blended families. I also have expertise in how to interpret and support children’s behaviour as well as experience working with developmental milestones, and learning challenges.
My counselling approach is client-centered, educational, strengths-based and draws on a variety of therapeutic tools to best meet your needs and goals. I integrate Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Family Systems Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed self-care, and existential principles (a spiritual view) into this framework.
My philosophy of counselling can be summed up as follows: 1) The counselor’s role is to act as a guide. (2) Clients must have access to hands-on activities. (3) Clients should be able to have choices and let their curiosity direct their learning. (4) Clients need the opportunity to practice skills in a safe environment.
When you work with me, I see you for who you are and, in doing so, help you to get to know and accept all your contradictions and complexities. I will support you to see beyond the surface layers and to give you permission to be the amazingly complex being you really are. Together, we will work on strategies to empower you to build meaningful, purposeful, intentional connections with life.
